Our role is to develop, coordinate and implement maritime regulations within a framework encompassing safety, security, environmental and economic  aspects  in Abu Dhabi for:

  • Sea Ports
  • Waterways Management
  • Public Water Transport

To regulate, plan and help to develop an effective and well-integrated maritime transport system that serves the public interest by delivering safe, secure, efficient and environmentally responsible

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Implementing and proposing maritime legislation in cooperation with the competent entities in the State for the purpose of achieving the highest standards of safety, security, environmental sustainability and the economic development of this sector.
  • Managing waterways of Abu Dhabi.
  • Ensuring maritime transport in Abu Dhabi is consistent with local and international standards.
  • Supervising the compliance monitoring of concerned entities in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi with regards to Abu Dhabi's Environment, Health and Safety Management System (EHSMS) policy, guidelines and port pricing.
  • Improving maritime safety for vessels and their operators through regulation and education.
  • Minimising vessel-sourced waste and protecting the marine environment.
  • Planning for and approving all maritime-related infrastructure projects.
  • Developing and implementing the required vessel standards and operators competencies.
